Is It Really The Thought That Counts?

With the holiday gift giving season upon us there are many like myself who believe it doesn't matter the cost of a gift as long as it comes from the heart. Even if you are just giving a card at least that person knows you were thinking of them, right?

I have heard and seen some interesting things during the gift giving season and some recipients can definitely be a piece of work.  They will either complain or give the infamous side eye when they feel like the gift they were given wasn't good enough. Good enough usually meaning that the giver didn't spend enough money and was just being cheap.  Let's say you caught something on sale for the recipient and they find out, they may get upset because you didn't pay full price.  God forbid the giver made something, now the recipient is even more pissed because they feel like you didn't even spend a dime.  Then you have those that complain about getting a card because it's not a gift.  Have a headache yet? Yes, I know it's silly but this is how many people think and it's really sad because it shouldn't matter whether the person bought a small or large gift, made it or just got you a card, it should really just be about the thought.

The thought counts because they could have completely forgotten about you and took you off their, the thought that counts, checklist.

I am the type of person who will receive a card and become giddy as I know that I was thought of and that's all that matters.  Who cares what you spent on the gift? I don't.

When it comes to gift giving is it about the thought or what was spent?

Thank you so much for reading and remember to leave your thoughts and comments below.
